When I think of home, I think of love. I think of a place to grow a marriage so strong that nothing can break it. I think of a place to raise a family with faith, manners and morals. I think of place full of endless laughter and I think of a place to always welcome others in with a glass of tea and snacks.
I am literally obsessed with houses and the idea of owning my forever home. I could spend hours riding around countless neighborhoods and just admiring what people do with their homes.
Does that sound weird?
I am a deep thinker when it comes to what I want for my home. As you may know, I just flat out adore the country and I love the south. For our home, I want to mix them together and have a beautiful home in the south surrounded by country and southern charm.

When I think of home, I immediately think of land. I think of a place where I can hear no cars passing by, where my future babies can run and run without any limits and where we can have huge family and friend gatherings on warm, summer afternoons.
When I think of home, I think of a huge front porch. A place to sit and listen to the rain falling, a place to read a book on a swing while enjoying a glass of pink lemonade and a place to sit and marvel at God's nature.
When I think of home, I think of horses roaming. I have been around horses since I can remember and having them at my home would be something that I would absolutely treasure. I want to show my future little Flowers how to ride and gain responsibility of taking care of a horse, I want to enjoy riding on those cool late evenings and I want to watch them graze peacefully through the land.
Oh, and when I think of home, I think of ducks. Because who in the world does not want ducks??
When I think of home, I think of a gorgeous yet simple white kitchen. A place to cook for my husband as he is coming home from work, a place to start off the morning with a devotion while sipping coffee and a place to share community with others
When I think of home, I think of a comfortable den. A place to have late night game nights, a place to watch endless amounts of Grey's Anatomy and a place to continually welcome others into our home.
When I think of home, I think of relaxing bedrooms. A place with calm colors, a place to wind down at the end of the day and a place to get countless amounts of rest
Finally, when I think of home, I think of a beautiful home. I am a simple person. I don't want a huge house with gazillions of acres. My perfect look to a house is mainly one story, two or three windows on top, white pillars, American flag hanging and of course the large porch.

Now I am in the mood to go take a country drive and look for homes
When will this happen for us? Who knows. I would rather take a while, save more and purchase when we are 110% ready.
Until then, looking will never hurt. A girl can dream right?? But when that time comes, I can't begin to explain how excited I will be :)
Wow this post just made me heave a big sigh..... the pictures are SO beautiful! Oh how I dream of the same things Lo! Seriously, I am totally with you on the ideas of a home! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this!
ReplyDeleteYour heart for home, marriage, and family is beautiful! I think your vision for your house is just beautiful and it's challenging to me to think about what I envision when I think of home!
Thanks for posting Lauren!
I love the idea of having lots of land, too! I don't know what I'd do with it all but I just imagine having it :)
ReplyDeleteI completely know what you mean. Currently stuck in the middle of Downtown in a two bedroom apartment. I still love it and think it's perfect for where we are at - but I still dream of stretching out and having a full house to call home.
ReplyDeleteWe have the exact same taste! I love every one of these pictures!
ReplyDeleteI love your style and dream list! Living in Seattle for a year taught me that I desperately want to live in the South, surrounded by land, with a wide porch to dream on. I'm eager for a forever home, too, but the Lord is teaching me to be content as each season comes and how to hope with great faith for that someday-season :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, this makes me want to move to the country! I would love to have some land--a few acres at least--so my kids can have a similar upbringing as I did. From the looks of these photos, I think you and Ree Drummond would be bff's! Most of these remind me of her home. It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. Sounds like a dreamy house.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who has moved every few years throughout my life, imagining a forever home is difficult. What I can imagine though, is living life so deeply in each and every house that you cry packing boxes when it's time to leave.
such beautiful words about what a home is! :) and gorgeous pictures!!! you have me dreaming right along with you! :) when we got married, my husband owned a house & so we live in a house now. but it is just suitable for 2 people, so we are planning on moving into a bigger house that children would fit in, in about 3 years. but we look at all the houses for sale & dream about what it will be like!
ReplyDeletefor me, i love the house that we live in now & i love how we've fixed it up. but he lived in it for 6 years before i moved in & had countless roommates & old girlfriends in it. so for me - it doesn't feel like 100% our home. that's probably just some weird thing in my mind lol but i am so looking forward to the day when we purchase our first house together & it's just 100% our home! maybe i am crazy and it won't really feel different, but i think it will just feel right! sorry i wrote a novel on your comments!! i just love hearing about homes & house hunting! :)
LOVE this post. My boyfriend and I just purchased our first home and are beyond ourselves. Best of luck!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I so badly want to live in every single place you metioned here. I have dreams of living in the country with a huge wrap around pourh, having tons of people over whenever they want. Oh to dream!
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with porches!
ReplyDeleteMy dream house would definitely have a wrap around porch! Probably the most important part of my next house is the kitchen. That's what I am going to be the most particular about when house hunting.
ReplyDeleteLovely post and I also dream of having a nice big, white simple kitchen and lots of land!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pics
ReplyDeleteLooooove all the photos!
ReplyDeleteI also look forward to being a home owner. I don't think I will actually feel "settled" until it happens.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! And a great dream! Nothing wrong with dreaming!
ReplyDeletegorgeous home ideas - I grew up on a farm so these really hit home!
ReplyDeleteI'm only in college, but I definitely dream of the day I can buy my own house!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous home photos! Love the shots of the little ducks too ;)
ReplyDeleteYour ideas of home are just the same as mine :) Minus the horses.. that requires too much work hahaha.
ReplyDeleteLove this post! We just recently bought our first house and it's such a great feeling.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with dreaming about your perfect home! I hope you find it :)
ReplyDeletethose pictures are beautiful, i'm a country girl at heart really but whilst i need to live in a city right now, i hope i can retire to the country one day! love the porch photos.. i'd love a porch like that too :)
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS! Everything you've picked there is great :) love the horses!
ReplyDeletesounds like you have the perfect future home crafted! i love the idea of land, animals, and all of those decor ideas are so relaxing and pretty!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures. The one with the baby and the horse is definitely a favorite.
ReplyDeleteThat definitely does not sound weird at all! I love riding around, as well, looking at houses!
ReplyDeleteI've been dreaming about my forever home for ages too! I can't wait to decorate it just the way I like it!

LOVE THIS! Makes me miss living in the south. I want GOATS!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I live in So Cal and don't have any intention of leaving since I was born here and I love it, but realistically it's way too expensive to own a home like this around here! I love the look of the south though, and how beautiful some of the homes are!
ReplyDeleteGreat thoughts on home.
