Wardrobe Capsule.

First off, I want to thank the lovely Rachel from Oh, Simple Thoughts for this post. I was reading her recent post on her latest Stitch Fix and her ideas on creating a capsule wardrobe. This girl inspired me.
Like MEGA inspired me.

In my closet, I have a lot of those "oh, I better keep this because I know I will wear it one day" items.
Yes, you know what I am talking about.
Most of these items were by no means my style and they literally would sit and sit in my closet. For my style, I like modest clothes with some glam and nothing but class. I'm not a girl you will catch in a low cut top, dresses much higher than my knees or shorts where my cheeks are hanging out.
As a daughter of Christ and a wife to my sweet husband, I have to be sure to represent myself in a respectful way...and I also believe it shows I have nothing but respect for myself.

1 Peter 3: 1-6
Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.  Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.  Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.  For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands,  like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.

So after reading Rachel's ideas on creating a capsule wardrobe, I knew it was something I wanted to do as well. I went home after work and headed straight to my closet. I ended up throwing out seven pairs of pants, six dresses, endless tops and three pairs of shoes (still working on letting shoes go. Not easy yall) Plus I transitioned my closet into all my summer clothes while I packed my winter clothes in a box.
That part felt SO GOOD.
I listed some to sell online and the others I plan to have in my yard sale that I will be having this month.
I HOPE (because who wants to wake up at 6am on Saturday?)
So now that I have tossed the style that is just not me, I went to my Pinterest for specific outfit pieces I want to add in my closet.

More floral skirts. A-dorable.
 Casual dresses.
Belts. More skirts with patterns.
Because you can never have enough striped shirts.
Long summer dresses with the length just right
Casual dresses again.
Stylish yet comfortable clothes for work.
Pleated skirts. LOVE
High waist patterned skirts.
More summer scarves and a really good lipstick.
Statement necklaces.
Just because I am literally obsessed with these pants. I have to find them.
Summer scarves again. No, you can never have enough.
Can you tell I am obsessed with summer scarves yet?
More denim blouses.
Oh, obsessed with summer hats as well.
and I am ready to take a stab at those adorable high waist shorts.
and WHO can forget some adorable Southern Ts? Seriously, I am too obsessed with TN signs and mason jars.
I have finally decided to sign up for Stitch Fix as well. I am very anxious to see what pieces they will send me according to my style and I will definitely post each box I receive.
I cant wait to share them with you!

Oh, and I tried something new this week. NEW hair.
I have been talking and thinking about the straight bangs for SO long and I finally just did it
-with much coaching from my incredible hair dresser-
I love them and it definitely helped towards getting rid of the old styles and bringing in the new :)
What is your summer style? Would you like to join along with Rachel and I on this wardrobe capsule?

  1. LOVE THIS!!! I am so excited to try this with my closet! Good grief I say that all the time! "I might wear that again when..." Ugh!! Enough is enough. :) Love the outfits you chose! So adorable girl!

  2. I love the capsule wardrobe idea- and the idea of having only things in my closet that I TRULY want and really love to wear.
I need to work on that!
And, just wanted to let you know that what you said about modesty was written so beautifully and my heart was encouraged to read it in such a positive light. You should write a whole post on that! :)

  3. Modesty is a huge thing for me, glad to see another sister in Christ believes you can still look cute and be modest. With that said I love all the outfits you posted, and I already mentioned this on your IG but I LOVE your new hair!

  4. I love your style friend! I just tore through my closet last week and have been letting my roommates and friends shop through the unwanted items before I move. It feels so good to let go of what I've been hanging on to for no good reason, leaving room for new items down the road. I've been dying to sign up for stitch fix and I think it will be first on my list once I get to school. It should take care of my need to shop and spend too much money out and about ;)
